Jian Zhou Lange will talk about customs and culture in China with a special focus on Chinese New Year. Jian will explain the origins of some Chinese traditions, how they changed over time, and she also will compare how customs and cultures are observed in mainland China compared to in the U.S

Jian’s talk is based on her own experience as a native Chinese who had lived 22 years in Beijing and Shanghai before she came as a graduate student to the U.S. where she lived for a total of 18 years in Florida and California. At the end of the talk Jian will answer your questions about Chinese culture and customs.
